To Dad from your loving daughter Therese

    A Life Well Lived

In the tapestry of life, your threads were strong and bright,

Woven with love and smiles, a guiding, gentle light.
With an Irish charm that warmed us, you lived each day with grace,

A legacy of love that will never drift from its place.

You walked me down the aisle, a proud moment to share,

With every step beside me, I felt your love and care.
You taught me how to swim, to trust the water’s flow,

And riding on two wheels, you helped me learn and grow.

Your heart was full of kindness for dogs and racehorses too,

In every wag and gallop, your love always shone through.
Through every challenge faced, you stood with steadfast grace,

Your smiles filled the room, your warmth a warm embrace.

You showed us how to cherish the moments big and small,

To find joy in the journey, to rise each time we fall.
Now as I stand in silence, reflecting on your days,
I see the life you cherished, the countless, loving ways.

Though the world feels a bit dimmer with your absence here today,
Your spirit lives within us, guiding us along the way.
You had a life well lived, filled with love and with cheer,
And though we mourn your passing, your memory is ever near.

So here’s to you, dear Dad, in every tear we shed,
We celebrate your journey, the life that you have led.
In our hearts, you’ll always be a beacon shining bright,
A life well lived, a love well given, our eternal light.

Rest in peace, Grandad Love Grandson Joey

    Grandad with the doggy

Grandad was always an inspiring figure in my life. A dapper, smart man, he had the rare ability to be both serious and funny at the same time. Grandad was a man of routine, with his dog always close by, whom he managed to guide perfectly with subtle, almost imperceptible hand gestures. It’s how I came to call him "Grandad with the doggy" as a kid.

I have great memories of spending time at his house on the Isle of Wight ,the barbecues he hosted, playing with Megan and her slimy tennis ball, and the famous penguin slide toy that any grandchild would know was the main source of amusement in the front room of his house.

While I didn’t see Grandad that often, each time I did, I was reminded of his composure, and the strong presence he brought to our family. He was sometimes a man of few words but always very warm and considerate.

Every visit reminded me of how charming and classy he was .Always dressed to impress with a few gentle stray dog hairs clinging to his stylish tweed jackets. He continues to be an inspiration to me, and I was always proud to be his grandson.

My memories of him will always be tied to the beautiful meadows and beaches of the Isle of Wight.

    Rosie about her Granddad...

Granddad, your sense of humor and love for your dogs, especially Mim and my Popeye, were truly special. Your horse puns and dad jokes, delivered in that charming Irish accent, always made me smile.

I will cherish the time we spent together and your exciting stories of the races. You had a gift for turning simple moments into unforgettable memories.

Thank you for the joy you brought into our lives. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

Tribute from Alex his grandson. “Let the saw do the work”🪚🇮🇪🐎

Utterly devastated losing my grandad this week🥲

Left us on St Patrick’s Day which is a fitting tribute to his Irish roots 🇮🇪 and enjoyed Cheltenham last week from his hospital bed! Gave me some final losing tips in true grandad tradition🫏
A true legend and one of a kind. We had a really great bond and he looked out for me especially in my early days with MCM. We many years together at the family company and he worked up until 2021 (covid lockdown) and at 83 was still active on site and busy shuttering & steel fixing.
I have so many great memories and stories about him, these couple stick out though….
I received a call from one of our new labourers from site and they were working with my grandad, he asked if I could translate what grandad was asking him to do as he couldn’t understand his Irish accent. Grandad emerged on the phone, “get on the shovel, tell him to get on the shovel for feck sake” 😂🤦🏻
Working at fairlee sewerage works when I was in my early 20s. After the 4th of 6 scheduled concrete lorries had left site, we had a good hours gap but could see hansons concrete plant from our site over the river medina. Grandad called hansons asking if the concrete had left the yard, when they claimed it had left, he let them know he could see them from site “stop fecking lying to me and get that concrete out, I can see you from the other side of the river”😂
Special mention to the hundreds of concrete slabs that contain his dogs footprints🤦🏻 🐾
    Love ya Grandad! RIP❤️
